(the tiebreak chair)

(the enzo enzo table)

(the lazy bastard seat)

On this dreary Friday, I’m loving these pieces designed by Netherlands’ designer Bertjan Pot.  My favorite is the ‘tiebreak’ chair that is constructed from tennis nets, seat belts and steel…what a genius use of materials for outdoor furniture!  Someday when we update our exterior furnishings I would love to see this added to our patio…but lets be honest I would drop this into any room in my house!  On the other hand, the ‘lazy bastard’ seat looks like the perfect place to spend a winter weekend and the name is a perfect description for weekend lounging.

For some colorful eye-candy to take you into the weekend, check out this parking garage mural by Craig & Karl….why doesn’t every parking garage look like this???

(wes)design has a handful of wedding invites coming down the pipeline so I figured I would give you a little preview of what is to come with these save-the-dates…one being my dear friend Lindsey’s and one being my lovely twin sister’s!  I’m always excited to do invites for people but when it is for someone’s wedding I’m even more honored that I get to be apart of their special day!

…and p.s. take a look at my new favorite website, the glow…it’s an eye-candy delight of designer moms + their kids + their uber stylish homes.  Enjoy!

Over a month since my last blog post but I do have some new, exciting things to share! First, I am back working at Clockwork Architecture + Design and have hit the ground running as a business developer + designer for them!  I’m busy and thrilled to be apart of all that the firm is going to be doing this year.  Second, (wes)design has also hit the ground running this year and I have a number of wedding invites that I will be putting together (along with party invites) that I am excited to share as they get completed and sent out.  Above is a random assortment of images (click on the image to see where they came from) that are beautiful, inspiring and just plain fun to look at.  On another (wes)design note, I have a couple save-the-dates and an invite that I will be sharing soon!

2011 has been a whirlwind of a year for me that included getting married, buying my first home and two new jobs and  I anticipate that 2012 is going to be even busier + better.  Cheers to you all having a great coming year as well!

(a (wes)design ‘evite’ i created for the holiday party i’m hosting next weekend)

Happy holidays to you all!  Above are a couple invites (wes)design has completed recently…and there’s also another to check out on the ‘cards+stationary‘ tab!  It has been so fun to get ready for this coming holiday with my new hubby and decorating our 1st home was definitely one of the highlights…enjoy the pictures below and may your season be merry and bright!

(santa decided to lay his hat on one of my husband’s many wall contributions)(a little twinkle on the tree)(our reindeer steve who stands almost as tall as me)(some cheer for our bedroom)(spreading some christmas joy to passerbys)(a vintage sleigh above our family room fireplace)(festive table decor)

CB2 definitely knows how to do a funkified Christmas and I’m digging it.  I certainly couldn’t give up the smell and look of a real tree but their ‘tree-alternatives’ are uber chic.  That is all for now, just wanted to share a little modern Christmas spirit….enjoy!

So here’s a blog post where I ‘blog vomit’ everything I’ve been wanting to share in the past week and a half but for one reason or another haven’t actually blogged about them….and share a little Pinterest eye candy (above)!  First, I can’t believe we’re already into November!  October pretty much flew by and  I feel like I don’t even have much to show for it!  Lately my to-do lists have been filled with mundane errands and tasks that give me much pleausre to cross off my, but don’t provide much to show other than a new name on my driver’s license.  Below is a lisf of the ‘blog vomit’ I’ve been holding in the past week (that sounds much more vulgar than I intend it to), enjoy and happy Friday!

-  Recently I had the opportunity to attend KCADC’s annual meeting and had the pleasure of listening to Fast Company’s  CEO  Bill Taylor speak about how our businesses can keep up with the lightning speed that our economy and businesses environments are changing….below are a few comments I jotted down while I was there.  On a Fast Company side note, as I’m sure most of you know, there website is definitely one worth checking out every once in awhile.

focus not on what keeps you up at night but what gets you up in the morning….appeal to all human senses…change the role/conversation you have within the industry…you can’t let what you know limit what you can imagine

- Through some recent research I’ve been doing, I’ve come across SMPS Boston’s blog and am in love with it!  It’s an AEC (achitecture, engineering, construction) marketing blog that has a great collection of articles focusing on being the primary resource for education, networking and strategic and marketing information for our members and others working in the built environment.   Even if you’re not in a marketing position it’s still a good one to check out.

- As a designer and (I like to think) a creative person, I can often come to a creative road block where I struggle to push through to the other side with an ‘a ha’ idea.  At work I find myself looking to precedents and with (wes)design I find myself calling my Mom (graphic design idea wiz) but sometimes I find myself searching for a different solution and after finding this article I think I’ve found the answer!  There’s a list of 7 solutions here but the one that stuck out to me are IDEO’s Method Cards.  I would be oh so excited to find these in my stocking this year (hint hint ;) ) and here’s a little blurb about them:

IDEO’s human factors specialists conceived the deck as a design research tool for its staff and clients, to be used by researchers, designers, and engineers to evaluate and select the empathic research methods that best inform specific design initiatives. The tool can be used in various ways—sorted, browsed, searched, spread out, pinned up—as both information and inspiration to human-centered design teams and individuals at various stages to support planning and execution of design programs.

Above are a few drool worthy inspiration photos from Interior Design Magazine. If you’ve never perused through their albums I would highly recommend it…definitely a good way to kill some time & gather up some inspiration photos or find new ‘pins’.

Life’s been busy but splendid the last few weeks….I hope life is treating you all just as well!  On a cooking side note, we’re having a Halloween/Monday night football bash tomorrow and serving my absolute favorite fall soup, homemade broccoli cheddar.  Easy and delicious it’s a definite 10 in my book and a Halloween tradition in my family….enjoy!

Serves 12

1 onion chopped
2lbs velvet
20oz chopped broccoli (the unthawed frozen kind works well)
12oz fine egg noodles (linguini)
3 T butter
6 cups of milk
6 cups of water
6 chicken bouillon cubes
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp garlic powder

Cook onion in butter. Add water and bring to boil.  Add noodles and cook then add bouillon. Add broccoli (boiling and stirring).  Add milk, cheese and seasoning on LOW heat.

Happy Saturday!  With cooler temperatures, lots of fallen leaves and mums on my front porch fall finally feels like it is in full swing which makes me oh so happy (but maybe not my husband who spent his day off this week raking leaves).  I have a lovely autum weekend ahead of me with a night at the haunted houses (which by the way was much scarier then I anticipated), a day at the renaissance festival, and dinner & drinks by the fire.

…and now to the real reason for this post, these collages by ‘tiny fawn‘!  I’m in love with the clean simplicity yet intricate layers or color & form and will definitely be purchasing one (or two, or three) of these for our home….the abstract quality of the birds makes them my favorites but there’s something about the mammals that makes me feel warm & fuzzy.  Here’s a little snippet about the artist: darrah dean gooden is the artist behind tiny fawn. long inspired by colorful children’s book illustrations, it wasn’t until the arrival of her son in 2009 that ultimately influenced the creation of tiny fawn – a spot motivated to create fun, whimsical, yet clean design.

Enjoy your weekends!

Dream wedding weekend (check), new husband (check), wonderful honeymoon (check) and lots of fun things to come home to (check!).  I’m back from our wedding/honeymoon vacation and everything couldn’t have gone better.   We were lucky to have beautiful weather in Vail and had SO much fun celebrating and enjoying the time with our friends and family.  After Vail we headed to Maui and enjoyed a week of sun & sand and again couldn’t have had a better week.  I will share some details of the wedding/honeymoon at another time because right now I’d like to share a new [wes]design project that I completed before leaving for Vail.  Above is a [wes]design invitation for Suspenders + Stilettos, an event hosted by The Children’s Place.  For those of you who aren’t familiar, The Children’s Place is a non-profit that cares & nurtures children who have been abused and/or neglected and it is a GREAT organization that changes the lives of many children in our community.  Their Young Advisory Board is organizing Suspenders + Stilettos to raise money for the organization and it is sure to be a fun night!  Combine a cool location (The Hobbs Building), food + drinks and a band to dance the night away it’s sure to be a hit and I can’t wait for the event!

…and below are a few pictures of my last few weeks :)

Enjoy the beginning of the week and I can’t wait to share more pics and details of our wedding & honeymoon!

The big day is quickly approaching and needless to say I CAN’T FREAKING WAIT.  I’m in a constant state of happiness and excitement and knowing that I will soon be in the mountains, married and then off to the beach makes me feel that life couldn’t be much sweeter right now.  I got to enjoy my bachelorette party this weekend (above is a picture of the adorable sign my sister made me for the night) and couldn’t have had a better time.  It was a perfect night and I feel so blessed to have such fun, loving and generous friends and family.

My lack of posting is a direct result from pre-wedding bliss but I have been ‘pinning’ up a storm and below are a few of my recent favorites.  I will be taking a vacation from the blog for the next few weeks but once I return I am looking forward to a) finally getting started on some house projects and b) sharing wedding details and honeymoon photos!

(i would definitely like to have this in my jewelry box)

(with my love of to-do lists this is a must on my office wall)

(drilled pumpkins for halloween….yes please!)

I’ll be back in October….enjoy the next few weeks!!!
